From the Principal’s Desk: 3/20/14

Saint Patrick’s Day

We started off the week with a wonderful Saint Patrick’s Day Mass. The students who are involved in the after school volunteer choir provided the music. It was beautiful. The students gave the pastor Father Madigan a special gift at the end of mass expressing their appreciation for all that he does for them and the school. Father apparently has some well hidden and unknown connection to this particular holiday.

No School Tomorrow: Friday, 3/20

Remember, all Catholic Schools throughout the Archdiocese are closed tomorrow. The staff will be in and working. It is a day dedicated to attention to the curriculum. At Holy Rosary, among other things, we hope to finalize our Language Arts choice for next year. We will also be taking a more in-depth look at technology.

Registration

All the registration forms are out. Please remember to fill them out and get them in to the registrar as soon as possible. If you are not returning it would be deeply appreciated if you would contact our registrar, Kimberly Tish, to let her know. We have some people on a wait list and if there is an opening we would like to let them know.

Annual Fund

AnnualFundThermometer-thumbWe are making progress. Little by little we are getting there. Our pledges are more than double what they were last year at this time! The response has been very good. As of today we have received 354 pledges this year to our Annual Fund. The pledges come to $186,553.93 and we have had $161,419 paid so far. Those pledges include 55 donations that have been made by grandparents totaling $11,530 and 42 pledges made by staff totaling $15,150. There are 79 pledges that have not been paid yet. They must be in before July first to make the Annual Report and to get into this year’s numbers. So, please, if you have not gotten around to making your payment, send it in as soon as you can. It can be a Lent project! At this point there are only 52 families who have not pledged. If they “chip” in I really think we will make our $200,000 goal. It will also help as we move into asking foundations for their help. Parent participation is an extremely important part of a foundation’s decision making process. Please help ASAP. Feel free to contact our Development Director, Kamila Kennedy , if you have any questions.

Fraud Meeting

Last Sunday night, a very informative meeting was held. Over 200 people attended. There were 21 IRS Agents here to work with people individually after an IRS representative explained the situation. We also had our own Holy Rosary School parent, Michelle Wallace, who thoroughly explained future credit implications and specific strategies and actions we can/should consider. One important strategy deals with the placement of a 90 day fraud alert—recommended for every SSN that may have been compromised—or a complete security freeze if you know your SSN has been used fraudulently. Contact any one of the three major credit bureaus listed below to accomplish the above. You may also contact Equifax through this link and they will also notify the other credit bureaus.

To purchase ongoing security monitoring services for your credit use there are many services available. The following two seem to be the largest.

Finding all of our Information

The school has put together a notebook that will be available in the main office. It has all the information we have sent out in hard copy form. It cannot be removed from the office, but it is there for a reference or to copy needed information out of it. All this information can also be found on the Holy Rosary website in a special Security page we created for this purpose. Any new information will be posted on our main homepage as well as in the special page. I hope that this will be the last of the E-Blasts on this topic. I want to avoid overwhelming people while, at the same time, appropriately informing you.

Additional Credit Protection Talk on Sunday

This coming Sunday, Michelle Wallace will be giving the same informative talk she gave Sunday night at Our Lady of Guadalupe at 9:45 a.m. It will take place in their GYM. Everyone who attended Sunday night found it very helpful. Feel free to bring friends with you. Some may even want to attend a second time because there was so much information given Sunday night. This is actually even very helpful for those who have not had their identity stolen. But remember, the fact is that everyone who has worked for the archdiocese over the last 10-14 years or has had to go through the call to protect program as a volunteer has had their identity stolen.
