Eighth Graders
Last week, we entrusted a sacred task to the eighth graders. As a class, they buried the time capsule which the entire school put together. Each eighth grade student placed a shovel full of dirt on top of the time capsule which two of them had placed in the ground. A photo was taken of each one of them and it was given to them. The back of the picture simply stated, “Come back to dig it up in 2064 —- it’s a date!” Only time will tell how many are able to make it. The eighth grade class then celebrated their quickly approaching graduation with a special mass Saturday night. After the mass, they were guests at an award dinner which was put on for them and the staff by the seventh grade parents.
New Staff Introductions
We are very happy to introduce two new staff members for the 2014-15 school year. Angela McCaw will be joining the 5-6 Department as one of the 6th grade homeroom teachers. Lacey Reuter, who stepped in this year as Kelsey Wong’s long-term substitute, will continue on as the new Art Teacher. Please read on to find out a little bit about each of our new teachers.
Lacey Reuter
Lacey Reuter, a Tacoma native, graduated from the American University of Paris, France and has a background in fine art and art history. Additionally, she has lived and studied art in Japan, French Polynesia, and Ghana. Some of her favorite free-time activities include ceramic sculpture, landscape gardening, and exploring National Parks and Forests. She is thrilled to be taking over for Kelsey Wong and joining the HRS community!
Angela McCaw
My name is Angela McCaw and I am originally from Walla Walla, WA. I graduated from Gonzaga University with my B.A. in English literature and an elementary teaching certificate and reading endorsement. I am currently finishing my second year of teaching 6-8 grade Language Arts and PE at Sacred Heart School in Red Bluff, CA. I will graduate with my Master’s in Education from the University of Portland in August. I love running and reading with a good cup of coffee, and I can’t wait to join my family in cheering on the Seahawks. I am very excited to become a part of the Holy Rosary community this fall!
