Principal’s Notes: 9/26/13

Dear Parents,

WestFest was a fantastic success thanks to so many volunteers and so many attendees. It was my first one. I ate the food, I purchased the socks, I ate the food, I spent time in the beer garden, I ate the food, I watched the kids play on the inflatables, I ate the food, I played a few games, and did I mention — I ate the food! It was a great community event. A big thanks goes out to so many, especially those who really organized everything.

Letters are going out this week asking people for appointments to discuss their pledges and to get an appointment to lock everything down. Many have indicated an interest in increasing their Annual Pledge to the school and committing to the Centennial. I have been asked to get things moving. Actually, I have been soliciting, and we do have a start, but now is the time to really push us into high gear.

The Annual Fund is, long term, the great hope for the future funding of our school. It will allow us to take care of curriculum enhancements, financial aid, the building and salaries in a tax deductible way. The staff is being solicited this week. I have given $1,000. Please do what you can.

The “White Paper” meetings have been going well. I have found them dynamic, challenging, and engaging—all in good ways. Now the voting starts. The Parish Staff voted last week approving all the proposals in the first batch. Tonight, the parents start to weigh in. There have already been many responses to the Parent Survey.

King 5 TV called up. They explained they needed some expert input into Current Events issues. So a few of our first graders will be giving some insight, advice, and direction in an upcoming issue of Evening Magazine. King 5 TV obviously knows how excellent our curriculum is. Hopefully, the first graders’ advice will get in with enough time to help prevent the approaching government shut down!

Now everybody should get ready for (Have I mentioned food yet?) the Italian Dinner.
