Mid-Winter Break
We are out at noon on this Friday, and there is no school on Monday or Tuesday. Enjoy!
Grandparents Lunch
As I had written earlier I think the lunch went well and the responses on the lunch were very positive. As I see it we have the following possible options for next year.
- Do the exact same thing we did this year.
- Have the Grandparents eat with their children, but tickets would have to be purchased for about $8 each, and once it is full there will be no more space.
- The parents could organize the whole thing but it would be on a non-school day. It could be breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
- Do both number 1 and number 3.
There were 209 Grandparents who came this year. We invited them to vote on how they would like to see it in the future. Less than half voted, but by the response it was rather close with 37 liking it better the way it was done this year and 48 preferring it the way it was done in the past. There were 29 who said it was fine to ask for money and eight who thought it was inappropriate. There were nine who were just happy to be invited and had no preference. Overall, people enjoyed the fact that there was more space and many chairs to sit on throughout the building. And we have received over $8,000 in donations from the Grandparents thus far.
The teachers unanimously preferred things the way they were this year. I have reported all of this to the School Commission. I will be inviting all parents to vote next week in this communication. Then I will leave the decision up to the School Commission.
