CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Last week was a great experience and a great success from beginning to end. The school mass before the Open House was well attended and we received a great deal of positive feedback. The Open House found people of all ages wandering thru the hallways and taking it all in. Everyone appreciated the many displays that were available for the people to enjoy.
The days of appreciation dedicated to parents, students, staff and the wider community were a big hit. The special “Outreach Day” where students and staff brought food, clothing, and baby supplies to the Church was a huge success. We will probably see more of those as time goes on. Father Madigan prayed with the students and staff. He stressed the strong connection between our faith and acts of charity for those in need. He then blessed everyone. After the Church service, the eighth grade students delivered food to our Saint Vincent program, diapers to the Baby Corner, and clothing to both Chief Seattle Club and Saint Francis House. On this day a number of students went to various businesses to thank them for their support. There were local businesses and bigger businesses like Starbucks and Microsoft. That proved to be a wonderful educational event.![]()
The Grandparents Lunch was a wonderful event. There were 209 people in attendance. When asked if they preferred the old format or the new one only 41% responded. Of the responses 57% preferred the old way and 43% preferred the new way. I have not officially asked the staff yet and I will report back when I get the results. I will also be asking for parent input. The event brought in $8631 in donations thus far.
There was a very spirited volleyball game between the eighth graders and the staff. All I will say on that is that I think the staff is aging and the eighth graders have big smiles on their faces! We may have some mandatory P.E. classes for the teachers. Who knows? We may even have an eighth grader teach them. ☺
We also had an All School Spelling Bee as part of the week’s activities. The winner for Grades 1-4 was Aidan W. and the runner up was Jonathan S. For grades 5-8 the winner was Mike H. and the runner up was Alex M.
Registration
Registration is under way. All the new registrations were due last Friday. Current family registrations are starting to come in. We still have room in next year’s kindergarten class.
Time Flies
Just think: it is already February. This is officially the second half of the year. We have come so far and done so much, but there is still a good deal left. Let’s all grab onto that rope and help pull us through to the end. The more people that are pulling, the lighter the load, the easier the task and the smoother the journey. We need to finish up registration, and the Annual Fund, put on the Auction, re-ignite the Centennial Drive, and get ready for graduation. Let’s all join in and do our best for the sake of the school and our children!
